Convocation ceremony of Cordia Group of Educational Institutes held on 23rd February 2013. As many as 225 students were awarded degrees in various disciplines including MBA, MSc IT, B.Ed, B.Com, B.B.A, BCA, and BA. Padam Bhushan his Excellency Sh. Ronen Sen, former India’s Ambassador to Unites states of America was the chief guest. In his convocation address Padam Bhushan Sen said that he was really impressed with the kind of education delivered in the Cordia Group in the rural area. He said that this institute is highly connected with all the villages and that this is very important. While congratulating the students who received degrees he said that learning should not be cramming but it should be in the form new innovation and ideas which can change our future.

Matthew Hancock, Parliament Under Secretary of State for Skills alogwith a delegation of educationists from U.K. visited Cordia Group of Institutes, Sanghol on 23-01-2013 to have a first hand information about the skill development courses run with collaboration of Vocational Training and Charitable Trust (VTCT), U.K., an organisation running skill development courses all over the world in the areas of beauty therapy, hair dressing, and hospitality. The Honble Minister interacted with the students and faculty of Cordia Institute of Vocational Training where skill development courses are run with the help of U.K.-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI). The minister was happy to learn that the courses have enabled the students to acquire employable skills. He appreciated the world class infrastructure and teaching facilities available in the institute. He was of the view that this project will be of great help in creating self employment as well as getting good job opportunities in India and Abroad since the awards from VTCT are recognised worldwide. The delegation of educationists is in India to explore possibilities of collaboration in projects in the field of education. Lord Diljit Rana, Chairman, Cordia Group of Educational Institutes welcomed the delegation and explained the objective of the project and emphasised the efforts of the Trust in helping rural area students in getting employable skills. He pointed out that there is a gap between educational qualifications and requirements of job market. On 3rd January 2013, a candle light march was made by the students as well as staff of Uma Rana Public School, Sanghol to pay tribute to the departed soul of “Damini” – the girl who died after being brutally molested at Delhi in a running school bus. Prayers were said. Mrs. N.Bella, Principal of the school suggested the girls to be strong to face such situations and at the same time she suggested the boys of the school to have full respect at their hearts for their girl school mates and the general female section of society. The students were asked to keep purity at their heart by making their souls improved. She added that a body with pure soul and pure thoughts leads to a perfect citizen. Need is not only to save women but to respect them also. Thus we all should endeavour to make our country free from all such social evils.
37 colleges and above 1500 students participated in the three day Zonal Youth Festival of Punjabi University Fatehgarh Zone which was started at Cordia Group of Educational Institutes, Sanghol. A cultural rally, highlighting the colourful and diversified culture of Punjab, was taken out by the students of the various colleges. The events scheduled for the day included Gidda, Classical Dance, Folk Songs, Folk Orchestra, Group Shabad/Bhajans, Classical Vocal, Geet/Ghazal, Group Song, Quiz, Clay Modeling, Rangoli and on the spot painting.
Cordia Group Of Institutes, Sanghol is organising Inter-College Zonal Youth Festival of Panjabi University, Patiala (Fatehgarh Sahib) on 4-5-6 October, 2012. The zone consists of 36 colleges and over 1000 students will participate in 28 items. Chambers of commerce in the year 2010 for outstanding contribution to Indian HR Community.
Cordia Institute of Business Management has started the industrial Interface series on 8 th of August 2012 in order to provide their students a glimpse of practical implications of the theoretical concepts. On this Occasion, CIBM invited Prof. Anoop Ohri who is the Ex Vice President, Corporate Banking, HSBC Limited. He has done PGDM from IIM Lucknow and currently he is the visiting Faculty of IIM, Rohtak. Mr. Ohri delivered the talk upon Indian Management styles – Pre and post Liberalization. During his session he discussed with the MBA students all about the Management styles of Pre and post Liberalization. He said that there was no competition at all before pre liberalization and there was no focus on what customer actually wanted. He had given the examples of Ambassador & Fiat cars which were only available pre liberalization, and the customers were not having enough choice in making their own decisions of choosing what ever they liked. He also talked about the various policies which were framed by the Government at that time. He discussed about the taxation policies which were there in India before 1991.
In an effort to find out the singing talent among the students, a singing competition programme was held in Uma Rana Public School, Sanghol. It was inter-house competition. Students were divided into three sections pre-primary, primary and senior. The programme was embellished with the presence of Director of Cordia group of institutes, Dr. R.K. Sharma and Secretary of Cordia group of institutes, C.L. Sharma
The Educomp Solutions Ltd organized a training workshop for teachers in Uma Rana Public School – a sub unit of Cordia Group of Institutes, Sanghol. It was conducted by Ms. Amit Kaur Raina, the Territory Manager alongwith Mr. Amardeep Singh, Resource coordinator of the company. The Purpose of this workshop was to make the teachers aware of the new smart class technology i.e. C.T.S ( Class Transformation System ). Through this way teachers can teach the students with excellent method. The guidance rendered by Ms. Raina was commended by the school authorities.
A workshop was organized in Uma Rana Public School - a sub unit of Cordia Group of Institutes, Sanghol to give guidelines in using CCE examination system of CBSE by Oxford University Press, New Delhi. Ms. Ritu Narang an experienced Teacher Educator was the Resource Person. She was welcomed by Dr. R. K. Sharma, Director, Cordia Group of Institutes and Ms. Noen Bella, Principal, Uma Rana Public School. Despite being a consultant and counsellor of Jamia Millia Islamia and Indira Gandhi Universities’ Teacher Training programmes, Ms. Ritu Narang was the Research Officer-Innovation for CBSE’s new project CBSE – International. She guided the teachers to how to make observations and evaluations in Scholastic and Co-scholastic fields by making them aware of Life Skills in detail. Some innovative activities were got done by teachers to render knowledge of these skills. Teachers enjoyed and learnt the things very interestingly. Principal appreciated and thanked Ms. Narang for the innovative guidelines she has given to the teachers regarding CCE.
Faculty induction program held on 16-07-12 in campus. The teachers were apprised of quality standards expected of them and the expectations of Lord Rana for making it a centre of excellence.

Cordia Group of Educational Institutes today launched its first ‘Cordia Institute of Vocational Training’ at the Cordia Educational Complex at its Educational Complex Sanghol on Chandigarh Ludhiana road in collaboration with Vocational Training Charitable Trust, UK (VTCT).
Making this announcement at a media briefing held here today Lord Diljit Rana, Member of House of Lords, UK and founder as well as funder of Cordia Educational Complex, Sanghol said the certificate issued after completion of course would be valid internationally. “The certificate is a gem not only for domestic market but all over the world,” he said.
Graduation is the action of receiving or conferring an academic degree or the ceremony that is sometimes associated, where students become Graduates. The date of graduation is often called degree day. The graduation itself is also called commencement, convocation or invocation. On 2nd March 2012, Tuesday, Cordia Group of Institutes is organizing annual convocation on 2nd of March, 2012 at Sanghol Campus. The students passing out in May, 2011 from various courses will be conferred the degrees. The compulsory rehearsal will be held at 9 AM on 02-03-2012. Dr. Jaspal Singh, Vice Chancellor, Panjabi University, Patiala will deliver convocation address and confer the degrees.

15th March 2011. A Team of 4 Senior Nurses lead by Karen Davison, Strategic Parenting Coordinator, of Sure Start County Durham, UK and Children and Young People's Services of the Durham County Council visited Sanghol today. The team comprising of Pauline, Fiona, Linda and Karen will be on a 10 day visit to Sanghol to share and interact with girl students and teachers of various colleges of the Institutes.
Children and Young People’s Services (CYPS) was established as a new Durham County Council service in April 2006. It brought together the former Education Service, parts of the former Social Care and Health Service, Building Schools for the Future and the Youth Engagement Service.
CYPS is managed by the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) with six services under the Corporate Director. A brief outline of the functions and responsibilities of the main Service areas is detailed below.

Sanghol Education Complex organised its annual convocation on 27th February, 2010. It was attended by more than a 1000 people, including faculty, students, parents and people from Sanghol and neighbouring villages, towns and cities of Punjab.
Minister of Education, Punjab, Dr Upinderjit Kaur was the chief guest, Advocate General H.S. Mattewal was the guest of honour and Lord Rana, chairman of Jawala Devi Memorial Trust and Rana Charitable Trust, UK, presided over the function.
The education minister conferred degrees on about 250 students from various disciplines. She was overwhelmed by the high standards and achievements of the colleges within the campus, towards the education and development of students, especially the girls from this region. She stated to all present, “This is a silent revolution”.
Lady Rana, co-chairman spoke about the vision of integral and holistic education for Sanghol which would encompass heritage and modernity for the development of global minded students with deep rooted Indian values. The Education Complex Director, Dr RK Sharma, briefed about various achievements of different institutions within the complex.
Punjab Advocate General H.S. Matewal praised Lord Rana for his commitment towards creating such advanced education facilities, having watched the complex grow over the last four years. He informed the audience that the Punjab government would be awarding deemed university status to the complex for Sanghol University within the next few months.
The students of Uma Rana Public School also presented a diverse and elaborate cultural programme.
Fifty six students were selected at job fair held at Cordia Group of Institutions, Sanghol Education Complex.
Dr R.K. Sharma Director of Cordia Group, reported that the companies participated in this recruitment included Airtel, Excel Callnet, Bharti, and Air India.
The job fair was the first to be held at Sanghol Education Complex.
Lord Diljit Rana hosted a special health camp at Sanghol Education Complex for people from the village and surrounding area.
Around 600 people from throughout the region were screened for a range of medical conditions by a team of doctors from a leading hospital. During the two-day event they were given the necessary medicines.
The health camp was organised by Lord Rana as part of his development of Sanghol Educational Complex. Lord Rana has funded the building of a complex of colleges and a secondary school at Sanghol.
The foundation stone of the Sanghol Heritage Institute was laid by Dr Karan Singh, MP and Chairman, Indian Council for Cultural Relations on 28th February 2009. This was done in the presence of Lord and Lady Rana, along with Advocate General of Punjab, Mr H.S. Mattewal, Justice Rajiv Sharma, Rana Moti Singh, Raj Loomba CBE and other dignitaries. The institute is being set up to provide a global centre of India’s rich cultural heritage.
In his inaugural address, Dr Karan Singh lauded the setting up of Sanghol Heritage Institute by Lord and Lady Rana. He said that it was a great step forward in reviving Indian heritage and culture. Dr Karan Singh said that Indian Council for Cultural Relations is opening new centres in country and abroad to promote Indian culture and would look forward to closely working with Sanghol Heritage Institute for the same.
Lord Rana said that the Institute, one of its kind in India, is being set up to provide a global centre of India’s rich cultural heritage, to facilitate every student in the Sanghol Educational Complex, as well as any seeker, scholar, enthusiast in any part of the world, to access and be empowered with the knowledge of the Indian genius and spirit through its thought, ideas, technologies and practices through the millennia.
Lady Shruti Rana, Director of Sanghol Heritage Institute observes, “The India of today, dynamic, young, energetic and innovative, is set to lead the world. While keeping its essential spirit, there is likely to be a great change of body. The shaping of this new vibrant body of young India, which would generate new philosophical, artistic, literary, scientific, political and social forms as well as a new world cultural dialogue, while being empowered by its own spiritual, philosophical, aesthetic and scientific heritage, drawing from its characteristic soul, will be the new Indian renaissance. Mr. Mattewal, advocate general of Punjab praised the movement towards a cultural and heritage centre in Sanghol Education Complex, which would help in reviving Indian heritage and culture. Dr R.K. Sharma, director of the complex also expressed his views.
